Spherical Lens Manufacturing

  • Capability from prototyping to mass production
  • Realize rapid template customization requirements
  • Optional standard and custom coatings
  • Schott, Ohara and CDGM glass types

Overview

A spherical lens is an optical element with a constant radius surface. A typical use is to focus, reduce or expand light waves.
Apexel designs, develops and manufactures various types of high-precision optical lenses and is used in the assembly of various optical systems. There are three different polishing spherical lens processing methods: CNC polishing, high-speed polishing and asphalt polishing. The maximum diameter can reach 450mm. Currently, Apexel Optics is the largest manufacturer with precision optical CNC machining capacity in China. We can achieve rapid sample customization requirements, and we are very competitive in terms of output and quantity.Contact us today to speak with an expert or receive an expedited quote

Selecting the Right Spherical Optic

Apexel Optics has the expertise to supply stock and custom spherical optics. Our expertise is Plano-Convex (PCX), Double-Convex (DCX), Plano-Concave (PCV), Double-Concave (DCV), Positive Meniscus and Achromatic lenses. Contact us with your requirements and our expert team of optical manufacturing engineers will work closely with you to ensure we provide spherical optics that meet your system needs within your budget constraints.

*Spherical lenses of any size from 2.0mm to 300mm can be customized according to customer requirements;
*Typical paraxial focal length tolerance is +2%, better tolerances are available upon request;
*Typical centering is 3 arc minutes, higher accuracy may be required;
*In addition to uncoated, we also offer anti-reflective (AR), high-reflective (HR), partially reflective (PR) coated lenses

Plano-convex lenses

Plano-convex lenses have a flat surface and a convex surface. The focal length of this lens is positive. When convex surfaces are facing the object, they work best when they produce real images under infinite conjugation.
Apexel Optics Plano Convex Lens Construction

Double-Convex Lenses

  • Ideal for Imaging Objects at Close Conjugate Distances
  • Feature a Positive Focal Length and Two Convex Surfaces with Equal Radii
Apexel Optics Double Convex Lens Construction

Positive Meniscus Lenses

A meniscus lens is a lens with one convex and one concave surface. Bends are used to shorten the focal length of a doublet or plano-convex lens that is already working at the infinite conjugate.

Apexel Optics Positive Meniscus Lens Construction

Plano-Concave lenses

  • Feature a Negative Focal Length and One Flat (Plano) and One Concave Surface
  • Ideal for Beam Expansion, Light Projection, and Expanding the Focal Length of Optical Systems
Apexel Optics Plano Concave Lens Construction

Double-Convex Lenses

  • Feature a Negative Focal Length and Two Concave Surfaces with Equal Radii
  • Ideal for Beam Expansion, Light Projection, and Expanding the Focal Length of Optical Systems
Apexel Optics Double Concave Lens Construction

Achromatic

  • Ideal for Polychromatic Imaging Applications
  • Feature Low-Index and High-Index Elements for Higher Performance Optimization Compared to Singlet Lenses
