The difference between astronomical telescopes and telescopes

Apexeloptic2022-03-08T01:34:10+00:00
Telescope

Ordinary telescopes are optical telescopes, relying on the refraction properties of lenses.  Optical telescopes mainly take visible light as the working band, because of the different optical systems, and can be divided into reflecting telescope, refraction telescope, refraction telescope, multi-mirror telescope, binoculars.  The astronomical telescope also has an optical kind, but the large astronomical telescope is a radio telescope mostly, radio telescope mainly takes radio waves as the working band.  Learn the difference between astronomical telescopes and telescopes in this guide.

1. The difference between astronomical telescopes and telescopes

(1) Different appearance

An astronomical telescope usually has two mirrors. The larger one is the primary mirror, which is used to observe the target.  The smaller one is called the star finder, which is used to find the target, also called the sight scope.  An ordinary telescope consists of two tubes of equal size.

(2) Different structures

Although an ordinary telescope is small, the sparrow is small, all the necessary parts are highly integrated, some products are completely sealed inside, with waterproof and dustproof functions.  The common telescope has a double barrel and single barrel of a cent, the product on the market is in the majority with a double-barrel.

The telescope has many parts, which can be detachable. The inner part of the telescope is not sealed, so it can not be used in high humidity and dust weather, otherwise, water vapor and dust will enter the inner part of the telescope, affecting its use.  In terms of structure, the telescope is usually a single-barrel design and needs to be connected to a tripod.

(3) Different distances of observed objects

Telescopes can observe stars beyond the earth.  Ordinary telescopes can only look at objects that are slightly closer.

(4) Different optical principles

Ordinary telescope only refraction type, but its prism structure has Paul type and roof type points. In order to achieve a longer observation distance and better imaging effect, the optical structure of the astronomical telescope is not limited to one style, and the picture direction needs to be changed by the positive zenith mirror or the positive eyepiece.

(5) Different uses

Astronomical telescopes are specially designed for viewing the sky. Many important indicators for viewing effect are ignored in the design of astronomical telescopes. The viewing effect of the same grade of astronomical telescopes is far less good than that of ordinary desktop telescopes (such as field of view, edge clarity, color reduction, etc.).  Ordinary telescopes are used to observe objects on the ground.  For non-astronomy enthusiasts, desktop telescopes are more versatile and have better overall results than astronomy.

(6) Different multiples

The multiple of the ordinary telescope is about eight to fifteen times, which is suitable for observing nearby targets. The ordinary telescope has a compact structure and is compact and portable, which can be carried during travel, and can also be used for concerts, sports events, and other occasions.

Astronomical telescopes have large multiples, most of which can be 50 to 100 times, or even more than 200 times, and are mainly used to observe celestial bodies, but occasionally low-power eyepieces can be used to observe ground targets.  The complex structure and large size of an astronomical telescope make it difficult to take with you when traveling.

2. Last word

Telescopes are not recommended for beginners.  Very narrow purpose, not suitable for viewing ground scenery.  Unless you are an astronomy enthusiast, “what thing, what purpose”!  Telescopes usually appear to be upside down or upside down.  Some have positive mirrors, but they are less effective because astronomical telescopes are not designed to look at things.  For example, color reduction, visual field, edge effect, and so on, are more important to see the scenery, not very important to astronomy.

Telescopes are bulky with large magnifications and tripods.  Ordinary telescopes have small magnification and are lightweight and portable.  So first you have to decide which one to buy according to your preference.
